On June 25, 2010, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released two memorandums that update the policies affecting the use of cookies and other web tracking technologies on federal websites:
Guidance for Agency Use of Third-Party Websites and Applications (PDF, 78 KB, 9 pages, June 2010, requires Adobe Acrobat Reader)—builds upon OMB's existing guidance for the protection of privacy and calls for transparent privacy policies, individual notice, and a careful analysis of the privacy implications whenever federal agencies choose to use third-party technologies to engage with the public.
